I arrived at class 30 minutes early this evening only to discover that the desks in Room 202 had been rearranged. This was a challenge. After last weeks raucous introduction to my class, I decided to impose a seating chart. Although I hesitated to rearrange the desks, I did what had to be done and the results were astonishing. We were able to start the class with a guided meditation and prayer and without too many interruptions were able to read the text and share ideas.
I'm relieved the second class went well. If it hadn't I don't know what I'd have done.

3rd Grade CCD
This evening I began teaching CCD at St. Catherine of Siena. I was a bit nervous. As were the children -- 13 8 year olds from the local elementary schools. Although a raucous introduction, I am hopeful that I'll be able to capture their attention and maybe even sow a seed.

Late Summer Garden
Late Summer surprises: Asters, asters everywhere. These are New England asters that seemed to have been dormant in the back bed. When I moved some Echinacea, the Asters seemed to come along for the ride. To illustrate just how much of an apprentice plantsman I am, I pondered what kind of weed was growing. Luckily my curiositytook hold of me and I didn't pull them from the bed.

Elsewhere, the Goldenrod and perennial Sunflowers (Helianthus, Lemon Queen) vie for attention.

And up above, the Hickory Nuts grow more luscious. -Especially to the eye of the squirrels!
