Perhaps because the hickory trees are so drab throughout Autumn, perhaps because they are one of the first blooms of Spring . . . the Service Berry trees in the northeast corner of the backyard number among my favorites in the garden.
Although this year their color was a dull orange, the drought seems to have suppressed apple scab - which results in leaves being lost before they can put on a show.

Arianna Cooks Breakfast . . . For Herself
A bit of a surprise upon my arrival home from Mass: Arianna cooked herself eggs for breakfast. A first!
